Preparation of ingredients

·         Rinse the chicken and gumbo before cooking.

·         Cut gumbos into small pieces.

·         Cut mushrooms into small pieces.

·         Carrots, onion are chopped.

·         Rinse rice grain.


Garlic powder1 to 2 tablespoons
Onion2 medium
Salt½ tablespoon
Hot pepper sauce1 tablespoon
Potato3 to 4 pieces
Carrot2 medium size
Mushroom3 cups
Chicken250-300 gm
Gumbo100 g
Rice grain¼  cup
Rotini pasta2 cups

Preparation procedure

·         Take 3 cups of water in a pot and add garlic powder and hot pepper sauce.

·         Chopped carrots and mushrooms are added.

·         Cook them for minimum 5 to 7 minutes.

·         Then pieces of gumbo are added.

·         Rice grains and chicken pieces are added in the cooking pot.

·         Cook for 2.5 hours in low heat.

·         Add the pasta and cook for another 10 minutes.

·         Salt and pepper are added in proper proportion.

·         The soup is prepared and is poured in a bowl to serve.

Variation on the recipe

·         Bacon can also be used in this soup.

·         Chicken broth may be used instead of water.
